Teens can be a challenging age group to work with - both for parents and therapists! But understanding that from the start helps me create a safe, judgment-free space where your teen can feel seen, respected, and understood. As a teen therapist, I work to build trust quickly so that your adolescent feels comfortable opening up.
At the same time, I know that parents want to be their teen’s go-to support - not their perceived adversary. Part of my role in counseling teens is to help families reconnect, rebuild communication, and reduce conflict, so that both the teen and the parent feel heard.
I offer teen counseling in Kansas City for a wide range of concerns. Some of the most common issues I address in therapy for adolescents include:
Anxiety, stress, and constant overwhelm
Depression or feelings of emptiness or isolation
Challenges with peer relationships and friendship dynamics
Academic pressure, motivation, or school behavior concerns
Struggles around identity, self-worth, and independence
Difficulty separating from parents and preparing for adulthood
Navigating technology, media time, and social media stress
Big life changes like moving, divorce, remarriage, or loss
Every teen is different - and so is every therapy session. Whether your child needs a space to process emotions, explore their values, or simply figure out who they are, I’m here to support them.
If you're looking for counselors for adolescents who bring warmth, insight, and humor to the work, I’d love to be part of your teen’s journey toward growth and confidence.
New clients will receive a consultation phone call before their appointment is approved.
