Parenting is hard. Co-parenting is hard. And when life gets busy, it’s often the family connection that takes the hit. Whether you’re dealing with constant stress, miscommunication, or a feeling that everyone’s just drifting apart, family therapy can help bring things back into focus.
As a family therapist in Kansas City, I work with parents and children to create more connection, less conflict, and a deeper understanding of each other. No judgment, just support, tools, and space to reconnect with what matters most.
Every family looks different, and every family struggles differently. Some feel constantly overwhelmed. Others feel disconnected. Many just want to better understand their kids and support them in ways that actually work.
Through counseling for families, we can work together to:
Understand your child’s social and emotional development so you can meet them where they are
Use guided play-based activities to bond with your child on their level
Help parents get on the same page when it comes to values, boundaries, and parenting styles
Re-learn how to relax, laugh, and truly enjoy time together
I also incorporate play therapy when working with young children and their caregivers. This can be a powerful way to process emotions, strengthen bonds, and communicate in a developmentally appropriate way.
Family therapy sessions may include the whole family or just one caregiver and child, depending on your goals. I adapt the structure to fit your needs. Sometimes it's about improving communication. Sometimes it's about helping everyone feel safe expressing their feelings. Either way, it’s all about supporting your relationships.
I do not offer couples counseling, but I do help parents and caregivers work better together in their role as a team.
If you’re looking for a Kansas City family therapist who takes the stress and shame out of parenting, I’d love to help. Therapy can offer a reset, space to pause, reconnect, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.
New clients will receive a consultation phone call before their appointment is approved.
